I've always enjoyed working with children and young people in one way or another and I spent many years trying to find the perfect job. Now, I think I've cracked it!
I gained my PGCE in Primary Education in 2012 and went on to teach in a charming rural school. Teaching was fantastic, but being a full time classroom teacher wasn't quite the right fit for me.
I explored other options outside the world of teaching but couldn't quite let it go. In 2015 I began to work with some home-educated families. It didn't take long for me to realise that being a tutor was an exciting, challenging and rewarding role in which I could really make a difference to young people. I decided to take on some more pupils and I worked with families in their own homes in Lancaster, Morecambe, Garstang, Carnforth and beyond.
In 2016 my life (and house) was turned upside down with the arrival of my first child. With new priorities and a new timetable to work around, I gave up my day job and invested my time and effort in my tuition business. Several years on, I now teach from my dedicated home-classroom, welcoming 15-20 pupils every week during term-time. My own children love testing out my maths games and writing on my "teacher board" when they think I'm not looking!
It's an absolute pleasure to work with children and their families and I can honestly say that I love my job.
