Most ten year olds won't have experienced a formal exam before, so sitting a mock test is a great way to take some of the pressure off on the big day.
In collaboration with another local tutor, I provide mock test events each summer in order to give pupils a realistic test experience. Pupils will arrive at the exam hall, find their seat among a group of around thirty other pupils and sit an original test under strict exam conditions. This gives them chance to experience the nerves, timing and pressure of a formal test and ultimately feel a lot more prepared for the real thing.
The tests are written by us and reflect the latest guidelines provided by the local grammar schools . Rachael and I draw on our knowledge of the Key Stage 2 curriculum, our experience teaching both in and out of schools and our many years' experience of helping pupils prepare for their 11+ tests.
Test papers are marked and detailed feedback is sent to parents via email the following week, giving pupils a chance to revise key topics, improve on their technique or work on time management before the big day.
